What is the Performance Dashboard?

Your Performance Dashboard is your online home for information about your agency's performance and includes a few dashboards in one platform!  When you log in, the default dashboard displayed is an Executive Summary Visualization (Vis for short) which shows a monthly snapshot of relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) and historical trending data.  The second dashboard displayed is an Executive Summary Tabular (Tab for short) version of your data, much like the Executive Summary Report you receive now, but with the added benefit of a configurable reporting period.

Can I View the Launch Webinar if I Didn't Attend?

Yes, we have saved the Performance Dashboard Launch Webinar for anyone to view!  The webinar covers both the Executive Summary Visual and Executive Summary Tabular dashboard reports as well as other helpful information you will find below and in other locations.

What is Tabular Data?

The term “tabular” refers to data that is displayed in columns or tables, which can be created by most business intelligence tools, like Tableau. We use these tools to find relationships between data entries in one or more database, then use those relationships to display the information in a table.

Why Did Emergicon Create the Performance Dashboard?

Emergicon created the Performance Dashboard Platform to allow our customers to quickly view current data and trends for specific KPIs that were most requested by our clients.  The Performance Dashboard was specifically designed to help you quickly comprehend complex information and make informed business decisions with the utmost confidence.

How Do I Log-In for the First Time?

Your agency’s primary point of contact with Emergicon will be designated as the recipient for access to the Performance Dashboard and will receive an invitation via email to access the platform. This email will contain a temporary password which must be changed prior to successfully logging in.

ℹ️ See the FAQ: "How Do I Change My Password?" for detailed instructions on performing this action.

Once you have completed your password change visit https://dashboard.emergicon.com to login.  Soon, we’ll be adding a link to our Emergicon.com homepage and other portals and communications you have access to.

How Do I Change My Password?

Changing your password is a simple and straightforward process that requires you to visit the following website: https://dataviz.solanalytica.com and click on the “Forgot your password?” link as shown below.

Who is Sol Analytica and What in the World is a DataViz?

Great questions!  Sol Analytica partners with Emergicon and provides the hosting and services for our DataViz platform.  DataViz is simply the branded version of Tableau, a business intelligence toolset owned and operated by Salesforce, which is what Emergicon has selected to run our dashboards and other analytics tools.

Do I Need to Log-out of the Dashboard?

Logging out is always the best practice! That said, we don’t control or track multiple sessions, or your session(s) duration. Use your best judgment to secure your data to devices and locations you deem fit.

Does the Performance Dashboard Track My Information?

Emergicon currently uses Google Analytics for our Performance Dashboard to understand current sessions and workload.  We do not track or share any of your data or session data other than to understand if we are providing our Performance Dashboard to you without any issues or latency (slowness).

If Emergicon ever changes this approach, we will update you directly and, in this FAQ, so you understand what we have changed and how it will impact you and your data specifically.

How to Switch Between Dashboards

Your Performance Dashboard consists of two views out of the box.  The default view is your Executive Summary Visualization (Viz) Dashboard as shown below.

To switch views to the Executive Summary Tabular (Tab) simply click on the link in the navigation pane as shown below. The Navigation Pane is the main way you view and access all your dashboard views and it displays on the left side of the Dashboard window by default.

Dashboard: Executive Summary Visualization (Viz)

The Executive Summary Viz is a combo dashboard with a monthly snapshot of various key performance indicators (listed below) along with a couple of historical stacked bar charts showing trends over time.

When selecting a month from the ‘Choose A Month’ dropdown only the metrics for Runs, Charges, Cash Collection, Cash Per Transport, Payer Mix Percentage and Level [of] Service Percentage will update.

KPI and Metric Overview

Each of the following are the names and short descriptions for each element included in the Executive Summary Viz:

Runs (numerical metric):Number of billed runs/transports for the month selected.
Charges (cash metric):Charges billed out for the Runs for the month selected.
Cash Collection (cash metric):Cash collected is a rolling accumulation of cash collected for the month selected which may include reimbursement for the runs from the current month or any previous month’s runs.
Cash Per Transport (cash metric):Is the result of (Cash CollectedRuns) for a given month.

Cash Per Transport is the most accurate and reliable measure of financial performance for EMS agencies. It provides the actual reimbursement you are receiving every time you transport a patient. Emergicon feels that “Collection Rate”, a common metric touted by others in our industry, is too easily manipulated because of the various reimbursement timelines across payers.

Payer Mix Percentage (bar chart):Shows a percentage of each Payer (Insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Pay) who contributed to Cash Collection for the month selected.
Level [of] Service Percentage (pie chart):

Details an exact percentage of Service Provided across the Runs for a given month.  Options are generally inclusive of the following but may vary depending on your agency:

BLS Non-Emergency
BLS Emergency
ALS Non-Emergency
ALS Emergency
ALS-2
SCT

Payer Mix Over Time (stacked bar chart):Displays the Payer Mix percentage in a month-by-month manner with Average trend markers set across each year.
Level [of] Service Over Time (stacked bar chart):Displays the Level [of] Service percentage in a month-by-month manner with Average trend markers set across each year.

Dashboard: Executive Summary Tabular (Tab)

This is really where the next level of your data exists.  It provides your data in a tabular format with all the granular information you’d expect to see.  The real benefit of this dashboard comes into play when you use the Start and End Date selectors to configure the dashboard to show you data during specific timespans with updating totals and averages.

Timespan Configuration:

By clicking on the Start Date and End Date respectively, you can change the dashboard display to only include the period in which you want to report on.   This is handy for selecting a quarter at a time or adjusting to fit your fiscal year as needed.

ℹ️ When you are done adjusting the Start and End Dates simply click on the controls again to collapse them out of view.

Can I Download My Dashboard in PDF Format?

You can easily download your dashboards in several formats including PDF and .JPG image files.  Simply click the “Download” button in the bottom right of your dashboard and you will be presented with several output types to choose from.

Can I Get Notifications When My Dashboard Has Updated?

Get real-time updates by “Subscribing” to the Dashboard!  This allows you to set several options including which view, the format you would like the email to include (Image, PDF, etc.), the subject for the email, an optional message, and a Schedule to follow.

What’s the Hamburger?

When browsing the Performance Dashboard, you’ve likely noticed the triple bar icon located at the top left of the navigation area. This icon is known as the hamburger icon, and it’s used to store navigation options. Simply click the Hamburger to collapse the menu and view more of your Dashboard on the screen.

ℹ️ Pro Tip: In Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome you can also hit the F11 button to take your browser window into Full Screen Mode, which is great for viewing dashboards with a lot of data!
